Teresa Hubbard and Alexander Birchler have been working collaboratively in video, photography and sculpture since 1990. The artists draw influence from the early history of film and photography to investigate relationships between architecture and narrative, character and environment; psychic and physical space. Rather than following a traditional storyline or narrative resolution, Hubbard and Birchler’s works reveal elaborate and enigmatic mise-en-scènes that invite personal and open-ended reflections on memory, place and cinema. – In very good condition.
The actress Anna May Wong (1905-1961). 1938/printed 1980s. Gelatin silver print on paper. 60,5 x 50,5 cm. Signed and editioned 189/190 by the photographer in black ink in lower white margin.

The photography and media artist Jürgen Klauke is known for his critical and confrontational view of normed sexual identities and social behavioral patterns. He was one of the first artists to translate the symptoms of the state of paranoia into aesthetic expression. In works ranging from highly minimalistic to strongly excessive, and also at times surrealistic scenes, his photographs reflect on the basic conditions of paranoid existence. Using everyday materials as a means to produce images, the artist creates a concentrated look at the absurdity of life. – Small fold mark in left edge, buckled in edges, small retouched spot in left upper area, otherwise in very good condition.

The earliest mention of Wiele and Klein dates from 1890, when it is mentioned as a prize winner at the Madras Fine Arts Exhibition. After 1918, Wiele returned to England and Theodor Klein bought out his shares. In the 1920s, Michael Peyerl joined the company as a partner to operate the company as a photographic studio until World War II. Klein & Peyerl existed in other business areas until 1987. – A few light surface scuff marks, otherwise an attractive atmospheric print in very good condition.

An intriguing portrait of the German artist Käthe Kollwitz in her studio. In the background one can see her sculpture "Mutter mit zwei Kindern" (Mother with Two Children). The photographer Tita Binz began her career with an apprenticeship at her uncle Léopold Reutlinger's studio in Paris. She later moved to Berlin, where she had her own studio as of 1938, specializing in portrait photography. – Traces of previous mounting on the verso, otherwise a fine tonal print in near excellent condition.

Color photographs by Will McBride are seldom on the art market. In 1973, McBride took a series of male nudes in Casoli, Italy but never made prints from the slide negatives. At the request of an enthusiastic collector, high quality pigment prints were made of a selection of the images in a small edition of 5 prints in 2014. The subtle colors and fine rendition of the skin's surface are extraordinary and show an undiscovered side of Will McBride's work. – A fine tonal print with strong colors and in excellent condition.
