Michael Ruetz was a prominent German photographer, journalist, author and academic. He is widely recognised as a visual chronicler of postwar Germany, particularly for his images of the West German student movement of 1968. Over his career, his focus shifted from photojournalism to explorations of time, transience and changing landscapes.
