One of Italy's leading postwar photojournalists, Becchetti documented social, political and cultural life from the late 1960s for publications including L'Espresso, Il Mondo, Il Messaggero, L'Unità and Paese Sera. His work for Il Messaggero established him as an important portraitist of his generation.Taken at "Contemporanea", the major multidisciplinary exhibition staged in the underground car park at Villa Borghese, this portrait shows Beuys in his characteristic felt hat and fur-trimmed coat, holding a eucalyptus branch.
