Parisian Store Fronts
Maquette layout model for the book "Paris et ses accroche coeurs" of Parisian store fronts
Los 4264 [*]

Ergebnis (inkl. Aufgeld) *
2.728€ (US$ 2,933)

Details

Photographer: Claudine Huza Marechal. Maquette (book layout) for the publication "Paris et ses accroche coeurs" of Parisian store fronts. 1950s-1960s. Circa 1600 vintage ferrotyped gelatin silver contact prints (6 x 6 cm), including circa 68 larger prints (24 x 24 cm) pasted in, many annotated in ink/pencil.

The photographs in this book maquette document an incredibly large number of unusual old stores of the postwar city, which have long disappeared. Especially the inscriptions, names and signets on the stores and house walls, as well as the street life of the 1950s and 60s, give a very charming and nostalgic impression of Paris at that time. The printed book (French edition) by photographer Claudine Huza Marechal (with the collaboration of Christian Délu, preface by Georges-Henri Rivière) was published by Editions Denoel, Paris 1971 under the title: "Paris et ses accroche coeurs". Some of Huza Marechal's photographs are in the collection of the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris. – Some photos with some creases/buckling, otherwise in good to very good condition.
