"An der Ost- und Nord See". 1 printed table of contents and 24 l with 35 photographic illustrations in collotype. Folio. Illustr. orig. cloth portfolio (traces of use) with title "An der Ost- und Nord-See". (Leipzig) circa 1891.
The German-Danish artist Wilhelm Dreesen began photographing in 1870 and was later given the title of court photographer in Flensburg. As of 1890 he published over twenty portfolios with photographs of Hamburg and surroundings as well as the Baltic and North Sea. - Leaves time-stained in edges, slightly soiled.

First edition of one of the most significant modern photographic books, especially noted for its use of color photography. This collection showing images of life in Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama was issued in conjunction with the first exhibition of the work of a color photographer at the Museum of Modern Art. "Eggleston's pictures are at once modest and monumental, vulgar and refined, ordinary and strange, prosaic and poetic, commonplace and unforgettable." (Parr - Badger, The Photobook, p. 265.). - Minimal time-staining along edges of endpapers, otherwise in very good condition.
