![]() Photographer: Charles Kroehle (1867 - 1902) and George Huebner (1862 - 1935). Portraits and ethnographic studies of Peru, Brazil and Paraguay. 1903-05. 50 albumen prints. Various sizes, most circa 15,5 x 23 cm, some smaller. Most with photgrapher's names in the negative in lower right/left corner, mounted to board and bound in half leather album with gilt-stamped title 7. Anthropofagen, Peru, Brasilien, Paraguay on front cover. The two German photographers Charles Kroehle and George Huebner are considered the pioneereing photographers of the Amazon in Peru. From 1888 - 1891 they travelled the Amazon, Ecuador and Bolivia. During those trips some of the first photographs were taken of Indios such as the Campa, Pirus, Shipicos, Cashibos and other ethnic groups of the Peruvian Montana. – Some slightly faded in edges, a few light scuff marks, otherwise in good to very good condition and many with strong contrasts.
