Photographer: Bourne & Shepherd, Lala Deen Dayal (1844 - 1905, Court Photographer). Views of India: Delhi, Bombay, Calcutta and Benares. 1880s/90s. 30 albumen prints. Various sizes, most circa 23 x 28 cm. Some with number in the negative in lower corners, each mounted to board (time-stained in edges), annotated in ink in German below the image on the mount.

Includes views of Delhi, Bombay and Calcutta. – Some light surface scuff marks, a few slightly faded, otherwise most in very good condition with strong contrasts.

Mounted to original board (slightly warped, some with minor edge wear) with publisher's logo and title/number printed on the mount and mount verso. Underwood & Underwood, New York, 1904.

Some prints with light scuffing, some faded, otherwise most in very good condition.

A very interesting album with attractive images of indigenous people and their living structures. – Some surface rubbing/scuffing, some with small tears, some with oxidation mirroring in edges, otherwise in good to very good condition.

Mounted to gilt-edged album boards on both sides of album page, bound in contemporary leather album with gilt-stamped title Ihrem lieben Turnmeister die deutschen Turner Neapels 18 Juli 1900 and ornament on front cover, Brogi's publisher's label Negenborn & Bokwinkel on inside in front cover, front fly leaf with dedication and signatures in ink of members of a German sports society in Naples.

Some faded in edges, otherwise in good to very good condition.

[*] Elaborate Japanese lacquer album with European portraits and scenes. 1900. 60 albumen cartes de visite and cabinet photos inserted into album window mats. Ornate silk covered, window mat album boards painted and embroidered, bound in decorative black lacquer album (corners chipped), silk brocade spine, with mother of pearl inlay genre scene (a few pieces missing) on front cover (28 x 37 cm), with original silk covered case (damaged).

Elaborate Japanese lacquer portrait album partly filled with European portraits and partly empty. The silk-covered album pages are ornately embroidered and painted and the front cover bears a richly decorated inlay genre scene. – Album in very good condition.
